Drawbore Pin Steel Only Pair

Pins only, so you can make a pair with your timber handles, the picture above is a style that I created using this kit, but you can use turned blanks as well.

Tool Steel, Rockwell 58. The diameter at the base of the pin is 8 mm tapering to 3 mm at the tip.  Length overall 170 mm, Length of taper 120 mm.

Smaller and narrower than the Lie Nielsen pins for delicate work.

Sold in pairs for pre-assembling the four parts of a door frame, two pairs are handy.

Drawboring is a great way to make a strong mechanical joint. A wooden pin is hammered through slightly offset holes in the two pieces and pulls the joint together. You use Drawbore Pins to pull the joint together first (with some force and a twisting motion). This eases the edges of the hole making driving the wood pin easier. You can also disassemble the joint if you want to work on the fit some more before permanent assembly.

Watch Chris Schwarz demonstrate the use of Drawbore Pins:

Drawbore Pins Part 2 - Execution..

N.B. Sold as pins only. Handles not included.
